Electric Dog Collar: How To Use One On Your Golden Retriever

A good electric dog collar should have excellent range and the dog should wear the collar for at least two weeks. One should also take care to put on and take off the collar, four to five times a day. This putting on and taking off of the dog collar will help teach the dog to associate the shock with something being amiss and wrong, and thus learn to be good. One must also ensure that the dog be trained within a fenced-in area, and the amount of shock should be just enough to turn its head, and not cause it to yelp or scream in pain.

    Just Like Leash Correction

The electric dog collar is nothing more than an invisible leash and should be used the same way a leash correction is used. The dog should be properly introduced to the electric dog collar, and it is a misconception that, just by putting on the collar, it will help train the dog. The very act of putting on the dog collar has meaning for the dog and rotating the prong, electric as well as leather collar is recommended, and one must also learn the art of pushing the buttons to get best results.

Using the electric dog collar, some people would say is like eating chocolate – there is apparently no harm done when the dog eats it, but there are many that will loudly oppose it. However, used in small quantities, both are harmless and both are what dogs like. Harm may only be caused when it intakes excessive doses, though there is no hard and fast rule as to what is OK for the dog, and what is not. The electric dog collar should also not give out electric jolts such as what one experiences when one sticks one’s finger into an electric outlet.

The electric dog collar is a refined product and can be quite subtle in how it works. One should take care and use the minimum level of shock to get the dog to obey, and the shocks should not be of intensities that will frighten or distress them. It is quite easy to be abusive in the use of an electric dog collar, and for this reason, the average dog owner should refrain from using it.

It needs experience as well as restraint in using such a means, and the dog should certainly not be treated inhumanely or with cruelty, which is easy to do if one is uninitiated or careless in using the electric dog collar. One must consider how the dog reacts to it, determine the purpose of using it as well as consider the alternatives to ensure that the dog is treated properly as well as is trained with best of intentions.
